DisasterTheory Launches Plan for Annual Holiday Event to Give to Kids
With almost a year to go, DisasterTheory has launched a plan for an annual concert called “Rock4Tots” to raise money to provide Christmas gifts to underprivileged children in the area of their hometown.
The band says that the concept is not new but that they hope to revitalize it and bring new life into the idea.
“What we are doing is holding a one night concert that will feature (we’re hoping) five bands. Fans will gain admission to the show by either purchasing a ticket or bringing a toy for a child. The proceeds from the show will also be used to purchase Christmas gifts for children and as the band members go shopping for these gifts, it will be live streamed. When all is said and done, we will have a predetermined location, date and time where the families can bring their children and have Santa (DisasterTheory drummer Justin Farrier) give the toys to the kids. We think it will be a lot of fun for all involved.” singer Mark Thomas said.
The band has started a year early because there is a lot of planning involved in an event like this. “We can not guarantee anything at this stage. We need the support of our fans, the fans of the performing bands, and the community to make this happen.” Thomas said. He also states “we know Christmas is not about gifts, but when you think about Christmas, it’s about the kids. It’s about that magic you see on their face when they get a gift from Santa. Nothing really compares to that and it really sparks that Christmas spirit in the heart of everyone involved. How can you not feel good about making children smile on Christmas?”
So far, performing on the lineup is DisasterTheory and the band Trapline. The hunt for more bands is on.
