Mark Thomas Talks About West Virginia
As DisasterTheory works on their second album “Destination Nowhere,” they have hinted at a few songs that are complete.
One of the songs that will be on the new album, “West Virginia,” touches on a very sensitive topic. The song referencea domestic violence and the emotional storm that victims go through.
We caught up with Mark Thomas, the vocalist for DisasterTheory and the lyricist for the song and asked him what inspired the song.
“It’s inspired by the story of others. So many people around the world, both men and women, go through this same battle. It’s a story that needs to be told and these people need to know that they’re not alone in their battle.” Thomas said.
The band begins the video shoot for West Virginia on February 15th and Thomas gave some insight as to what to expect. “The song itself tells the story of a woman who is trapped in a life that she doesn’t want. It follows her story from a less than ideal life as a child, and continues to follow her through various aspects of her life, ultimately through an abusive relationship and depression. In the end, she finds the love of someone that truly cares about her and sweeps her away into a better life. So the video will ultimately depict these sensitive points.”
The video is being directed by Colter Byers and while there is no release date for the video, it’s likely that it will not be released until closer to the album release.
In the meantime, make sure to check out DisasterTheory’s first album “Dying Side of Life.”
