As the band has already began bouncing ideas back and forth for material for a new album, one of the tracks that will be on that album is a track entitled “West Virginia.”

The song details the life a woman that is battling stints of depression and domestic violence but finds her way out of the chaos as she is swept away from it all by someone that loves her.

Sounds like an amazing love story with a lot of turmoil. Doesn’t it?

The truth is, many women and children face this battle every day and many of their stories do not end on such a happy note.

“This is why we feel that it’s an important story to tell.” said DisasterTheory frontman Mark Thomas. “There are many ladies out there, young and older that go through this. They often feel trapped in their situations. They feel lost and it’s not easy for them to get out. It’s not easy for them to see the path for escape. Sometimes they feel they have nowhere to go and no way out.” he says.

The band is in the beginning stages of preparing for a music video for the song, which may be disturbing for some to see because it portrays the life of a battered woman that has had let downs throughout her life that only pile up until she finds her way out unexpectedly.

“Placing a visual to this story is something very difficult. While men can just as easily be abused by their partners physically and emotionally, we as men do not go through this tragic story in the same way women do. So it’s very difficult to portray something with an understanding of that side of the fence.” Thomas says. He continues, “we will do our very best to do it justice.”

The band has stated that they plan to donate profits of the associated t-shirt of the song to a domestic violence organization in West Virginia and they hope that the music video will create a more diverse awareness of the story that many women and children face and to hopefully send the message to others who face this battle that “you are not alone” and “there is hope, help and a way out. Don’t give up.”

Love shouldn’t hurt; physically or emotionally.
