DisasterTheory Returns With Heavier New Single “Psychotic” Following Loss of Two Years of Work
PITTSBURGH, PA — September 16, 2026 — Pittsburgh metalcore band DisasterTheory is set to return with “Psychotic,” the band’s first single since February and the first completed track since beginning the process of re-recording their upcoming album, Demise of Eden.
“Psychotic” arrives September 25, 2026 at midnight and marks a new chapter for the band following a devastating setback that forced DisasterTheory to rebuild two years of recording work after a hard drive crash resulted in the loss of the band’s studio projects and backups.
Rather than allowing the setback to end the momentum surrounding Demise of Eden, DisasterTheory went back into the studio and began rebuilding the album from the ground up. “Psychotic” is the first finished track to emerge from that process.
The song also introduces a heavier sound for the band, pushing DisasterTheory into darker and more aggressive territory while still maintaining the elements that have become part of their identity. It represents a noticeable shift in sound and serves as an early glimpse into what listeners can expect from the re-recorded Demise of Eden.
Lyrically, “Psychotic” explores the contrast between perception and reality. It focuses on the idea of someone who appears kind, innocent and completely normal to everyone around them while secretly hiding a much darker and more unstable side.
“People think they know you because of what you show them,” says DisasterTheory vocalist Mark Thomas. “They see the nice guy, the quiet guy, the person who seems completely normal. They don't see what you're capable of when that side comes out. That's where the idea for ‘Psychotic’ came from.”
For DisasterTheory, the release represents more than just a new single. After losing two years of work, “Psychotic” is the first tangible result of starting over and rebuilding Demise of Eden.
The band describes the upcoming album as a darker and more aggressive evolution of their sound, with “Psychotic” providing the first completed glimpse of that direction.
“Psychotic” by DisasterTheory will be available on all major streaming platforms beginning September 25, 2026 at midnight.
