Frontman says “No venue that forces vaccines.”
DisasterTheory frontman Mark Thomas confirmed that the band will be refusing to perform at any venue that enforces vaccine mandates.
The Pennsylvania resident says “We live in a state in which the governor is ridiculous with mandates. He’s power hungry and refuses to relinquish the control he has, even if he has to side step courts to do it.”
Months ago, DisasterTheory informed fans on social media that they will be refusing to play at any venue that enforces COVID-19 vaccine mandates, referring to venues asking fans for proof of vaccination.
The band stated “We are entertainers. We are not your doctor. Your medical status is not our business and we do not feel that we are qualified to tell you what medical procedures you should have in order to see a performer perform.”
Shortly after making this post, the band noted that they had lost fans and friends over the post.
Thomas said “yeah, people were upset that we took that stance but it is what it is. This is about standing up against the tyranny of a government and a commercial business interfering with your health and medical freedom. If we have fans that enjoy tyranny and dislike what we say so much that they can’t be our fan anymore, we are okay with that. That, like a vaccine, is their choice. We stand beside their choice as well. When it’s ‘friends’ that’s a little different. Friends that can’t be your friend any longer because you may have a different opinion than they do, weren’t really friends to begin with. It comes off as petty.”
Thomas says the band “stands by its announcement. If you want a vaccine, get one. If you don’t want one, you shouldn’t be forced into it.”
Thomas notes that he recovered from COVID-19 back in September after contracting it from a vaccinated family member. “I still do not believe in mandated vaccines” he says.
